Tea at Fundamentals

Tea has always been part of the Fundamentals experience. Complimentary tea is prepared upon request, with peppermint or mint, lavender, black tea, and green tea always available. We also offer a rotating selection of specialty teas and occasional loose-leaf blends selected in partnership with The Rendezvous with Tea. Ask what we’re serving during your visit.
Take a little more time
You do not have to rush out the moment your service ends. Our quiet, semi-private relaxation area includes comfortable zero-gravity recliners where you can rest before or after your appointment. Waiting companions are welcome to get comfortable, enjoy water or tea, read, or relax. Seasonal outdoor seating is also available when the weather cooperates.
01What should I book if I am not sure what I need?
Choose the service that sounds closest to how you want to feel. Your provider will talk with you before the appointment and personalize the experience based on your preferences, comfort, and goals. If you are deciding between massage types, the Fundamentals Therapeutic Massage is a good place to begin.
02Is Fundamentals only for women?
No. Fundamentals was created with a deep understanding of women’s lives and wellness needs, but men are welcome to book from the complete spa menu. We also offer a men’s facial and a Mankind Package.
03What should I wear?
Wear whatever is comfortable for you. For massage and body treatments, your provider will explain how to prepare and will use professional draping throughout the service. You will only undress to your level of comfort.
04What should I expect during my first visit?
Your visit begins with a brief consultation so we can understand what you want from the appointment, review relevant health information and sensitivities, and answer questions. Your provider will explain the service before beginning and check in as needed.
05Do I need to arrive early?
Plan to arrive about 10 minutes before your first appointment so you do not feel rushed. If intake forms are sent in advance, completing them before you arrive will leave more of your visit available for care.
06What if I am sensitive to fragrance or essential oils?
Please tell us when booking and again during your consultation. Aromatherapy is part of the Fundamentals experience, but your comfort and safety come first. We can adjust or omit aromatic products based on your sensitivities.
07What products do you use?
We use clean, ingredient-conscious massage, facial, and body-care products selected for quality and performance. Our collection includes therapeutic-grade essential oils and locally handcrafted products made with organic ingredients. Tell us about allergies or known sensitivities before your service.
08Can I book while pregnant or managing a health condition?
Please share relevant health information when booking and during your consultation. Depending on your condition, stage of pregnancy, medications, or recent procedure, we may recommend a modified service or ask you to consult your healthcare provider before receiving treatment.
09Can several people visit together?
Small groups may be accommodated depending on provider and treatment-room availability. Contact Fundamentals before booking multiple guests so we can coordinate the appointments. Fundamentals does not currently offer large spa parties.
10Do you sell gift cards?
Yes. Gift cards may be purchased for a specific service, spa package, or dollar amount.
11How far in advance should I book?
Availability varies by day and provider. Booking ahead gives you the best selection, particularly for Saturdays, packages, and appointments requiring more than one provider. The online calendar shows the most current availability.
12What is your cancellation policy?
We request at least 24 hours’ notice when canceling or rescheduling. We understand that unexpected situations occur; please contact us as soon as you know you cannot keep the appointment.
13Where are you located?
Fundamentals Relaxation Spa is located at 23647 Woodward Avenue, Suite 2, Pleasant Ridge, Michigan 48069. The spa is on the lower level. Enter at the rear of the building beneath the covered breezeway and look for the Fundamentals sign and Suite 2 marker. Free street parking and limited parking in the small rear lot are available.
